current update

November 5, 2025

  • Many hands make light(er) work. We are grateful for all of the volunteers who have helped in our interim renovations to make the Next Gen wing both safe and functional. While the space is by no means complete, Treehouse Kids Ministry is thriving in its new home each Sunday morning!

  • Significant improvements made include full ceiling painting, wall paint, acoustic diffusion and absorption via aesthetic wall panels. Electrical upgrades to facilitate future AV.

  • This Sunday we will officially launch our “Reach Kelowna “ Building Campaign, join us in praying for our city.

September 15, 2025

  • We’re so thankful for the generosity our church has shown as we take hold of our vision for expansion and supporting young families and Next Gen ministry. We now have a fully functioning courtyard outside of our new Next Gen Wing.

This space has already become a hub between services for parents to connect and for kids to play and create memorable experiences and friendships.

We continue to develop the interior as funds allow and have already made big improvements to the gathering spaces inside. Stop by and have a look this Sunday!

  • Work is beginning this week on our exterior courtyard space. We’re excited to begin to build out this space and have it functional for the reminder of the summer and fall. It will give us increased capacity for mid-week outdoor events, and a much needed alternative to the parking lot as an after service visiting space.

  • Work to be completed includes but not limited to; asphalt resurfacing, installation of astro-turf and kids play structure, construction of gazebo sitting area, and installation of exterior patio lighting.

  • Cosmetic improvements to Unit 3 (our future next-gen space) will commence August 18th.

June 20, 2025:

  • Although the completion of the expansion vision is sometime away we want to make more use of the space we already have.

  • Beginning Sunday June 22 the kids sign-in station will be located in the new courtyard and kindergarten to grade 4 will be meeting in the back area of the Next Gen wing.

  • HYPE pre-teens will be meeting in the front area of the new Next Gen Wing and this area will also host offices and midweek work spaces for our staff.

  • The courtyard is being setup into a more functional hospitality space.

  • We’ve ordered an outdoor kids play structure and are currently soliciting quotes for the safety turf and matts. We expect a new playgound area will be functional in August.

  • Our building team has identified three keys areas of immediate focus. 1.) Ensuring the space is safe to use. Electrical panels have been boxed in and emergency exit signs and lights are all tested and in place. 2.) Acoustic treatment, the warehouse is very echoey. 3.) Improving the function and aesthetics into a more suitable space. It was previously used as a working warehouse and the paint, walls, flooring etc require some attention. These projects will be worked on this summer.

  • Our project manager is preparing to submit the building permit application on June 30.

June 5, 2025:

  • We’ve launched a formal building team with construction professionals in our church who will help us with general project support and cost savings initiatives.

  • We’ve established a small interior design team to help us with choosing colours, signage, and furnishings & fixtures.

  • We’re submitting the advance paper work to the city in preparation for submitting the upcoming building permit.

  • We've received the Class C project budget and are working on some cost savings steps. The current all in budget for pre-construction design and engineering, construction build-outs, 1st year carrying costs, and furnishings and equipment is $2.3 million. The construction costs have come in higher than we first thought, especially in mechanical HVAC and electrical work.

  • Next steps will be formalizing our fundraising strategy. Our current expansion donations are approximately $175k which will sufficiently cover all of the costs up to building permit phase. More funding will be required to begin the demo and new construction build-outs.

april & May 2025:

We took over the entire space next door on April 1, 2025 and are using it as a temporary home for offices, youth, and kids ministry. We secured the chosen engineering firms in early April and The Stober Group is currently leading us through the consultancy process. This background work will inform all of our next steps including finalized architectural drawings, construction plans, the building permit application, and the budget are all subject to the engineer reports. We’re in discussions with a few key donors. This is a very crucial phase for us and we hope to have more clarity and vision to share with you in the coming month or so.

march, 2025

We’ve secured the services of Stober Construction Group to take on all of our pre-construction logistics. Stober has begun securing the required engineer consultants for the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural aspects of the project. The pastoral team has worked on finalized room designs and layouts with the architect.

february, 2025:

We’ve raised $165k in donations to offset the anticipated pre-construction costs for architect, project manager, and engineer consultants. Our Seed Sunday pledges allowed us to increase our 2025 operations budget to take-on the added monthly costs with expansion.

December, 2024

The city gave us initial approval to proceed with our proposed bubilding plans. We launched Seed Sunday to help generate increased monthly donations to help prepare for the increased operational costs of doubling our space.

November, 2024

After another long process the city also granted us a development variance allowing us to expand our occupancy limit. We began working with an architect for designing the space.

october, 2024

After a lengthy 1 year process, our property was awarded a zoning amendment permitting Religious Assembly as our primary use.

October, 2023

Our neighbouring business relocated and gave us first right of refusal to their space (holding it for us until the spring of 2025, which is a small miracle). We approached the city planning department for expansion approval and were advised our zoning and parking requirements were not in compliance.

April, 2023

We received a $1.5 million donation to buy our current venue.

2020-2022

Our church grew during the global pandemic, creating three new pastoral roles to help broaden our ministry scope and depth.
